Athena Candle Sticker
7” x 7” vinyl sticker. Sized to wrap around a standard seven day jar candle. These stickers are translucent, allowing the light of the candle to shine softly through as it burns. An orange or red candle is recommended.
Original artwork and design by Heron Michelle.
“Athena, Greek goddess of wisdom, courage, and strategy. Born fully armed from the brow of Zeus, Athena embodies clarity of mind united with disciplined will. Her name translates to “Divine Mind.” Athena represents honorable strength — justice, craftsmanship, civilization, and protection. She is a patroness of heroes, artisans, and civic life, guiding both the valor of the warrior and the artistry of the maker. Her symbols express this duality: the owl, with piercing vision in darkness; the olive tree, gift of peace and prosperity; the aegis, her shield bearing the Gorgoneion, warding off evil; and her spear and helmet, emblems of readiness and defense. The serpent at her feet represents guardianship and rebirth, linking her wisdom to the chthonic powers of transformation. Athena’s epithets: Pallas (maiden warrior), Promachus (champion in battle), Ergane (patroness of crafts), Polias (protector of the city), and Glaukopis (“bright-eyed”). She was called upon for intuition while creating art by potters and weavers, by warriors for victory in battle, and by brides for protection and conception in their marriages. Traditional offerings include olives and oil, burnt sacrifice of oxen, sweet fig bread and honey, milk, and wine, as well as handicrafts like pottery and woven cloth dedicated to her service. Incense of frankincense or olive wood honors her, while stone allies such as lapis, iolite, and amazonite carry her wisdom.” ~ Heron Michelle
